On 21 September 2024, the Zimbabwe Doctors Association UK (ZDA UK) proudly hosted its first-ever Summer Gala at the elegant Nailcote Hall in Coventry. This milestone event brought together healthcare professionals, families, and friends for an unforgettable evening of celebration, networking, and community spirit.

We were honoured to welcome Councillor Mara Makunura, the Mayor of Rushmoor, as our guest of honour. As the first Black female mayor of the borough and originally from Chinhoyi, Zimbabwe, Mayor Makunura inspired guests with her powerful story of resilience and perseverance, highlighting the importance of representation, ambition, and unity within the diaspora.

The gala was made possible through the generous support of our sponsors: Jamboo, Nyaradzo Funeral Services, Diaspora Insurance, and Lieman Property Investment. Their commitment to the community helped create an event full of joy and connection.

From uplifting speeches and delicious buffet dining to lively music, dancing, and children’s entertainment, the atmosphere was vibrant and welcoming — a true reflection of the ZDA UK spirit.

This inaugural event marked the beginning of many more to come, as we continue to grow and celebrate the achievements of Zimbabwean healthcare professionals in the UK.
