Dr Nick Munyanyi Appointed New Director of Medical Education at University Hospitals of North Midlands NHS Trusts(UHNM)
The University Hospitals of North Midlands NHS Trust (UHNM) has announced the appointment of Dr Nick Munyanyi as its new Director of Medical Education (DME) — a proud achievement for the Zimbabwean medical community in the UK.
Dr Munyanyi first joined UHNM in 2011 as a consultant in acute internal medicine, and since then, he has established himself as a respected leader in medical education. Over the years, he has played a pivotal role in supporting learners across the Trust. Notably, he led the Foundation Training Programme as Training Programme Director from 2015 and, more recently, served as Deputy DME for the past three years.
Reflecting on his new role, Dr Munyanyi said:
“I am honoured to take up the role of Director of Medical Education at UHNM. Education is most impactful when learners feel respected, supported and inspired, and I want UHNM to be a place where everyone has the opportunity to flourish. My vision is to nurture an inclusive learning culture that celebrates diversity and excellence, values every voice and empowers people to reach their full potential.”
He also expressed gratitude to his predecessor, Professor Will Carroll, for his mentorship and guidance over the years.
UHNM’s Chief Medical Officer, Dr Dianne Adamson, welcomed the appointment, noting:
“I am delighted to welcome Dr Munyanyi to the DME role. With his passion for education and commitment to developing the next generation of healthcare professionals, Dr Munyanyi’s leadership will help ensure UHNM continues to deliver high-quality education, which is essential to the excellent care we provide to our local population.”
A Milestone for the Zimbabwean Medical Community
Dr Munyanyi’s appointment is not only a testament to his personal dedication and leadership, but also a source of pride for the Zimbabwean diaspora in the UK. His journey highlights the impact of Zimbabwean doctors contributing meaningfully to the NHS, shaping the future of healthcare education, and inspiring the next generation of medical professionals.
The Zimbabwean Doctors Network in the UK celebrates this milestone and extends heartfelt congratulations to Dr Munyanyi on this well-deserved achievement.
